1) Five Year B. A. LL. B. (Hons.) consisting of 10 Semesters of Six months’ duration each.
2) Three Year LL. B. consisting of 6 Semesters of Six months’ duration each.
Application for admission is to be made in prescribed form within dates notified by College authority for each academic session. Admission Forms with Prospectus are sold by the College Office.
Minimum qualification for Five Year B. A. LL. B. (Hons.) is Higher Secondary or equivalent examination having passed with 45 % of marks in aggregate in case of General Category applicants & 40 % of the total marks in case of S. C. & S. T. applicants.
The minimum qualification for admission in Three Year LL. B. course is Degree (10 + 2 + 3 pattern) Examination having passed with 45 % of marks in aggregate in case of General Category applicants & 40 % of the total marks in case of S. C. & S. T. applicants.
However, the applicants are required to appear in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the College which is to be followed by counselling. Qualified candidates are required to take admission within the prescribed dates and the list of the qualified candidates and with date of admission will be notified in the College Notice Board. The selected candidates will have to present all original mark-sheets and testimonials for verification by the College Office for the purpose of admission. Those who appeared at the H. S. Examination / Degree Examination of the current year may also apply and will be admitted provisionally, if selected. Their continuation is subject to obtaining minimum marks as required by the Bar Council of India.
• The maximum age for seeking admission into a stream of five year Integrated Bachelor of Law Degree Programme, is limited to twenty years in case of the General Category of applicants and twenty two years in case of applicants from S.C., S.T. & O. B.C. Candidates.
• The maximum age for seeking admission into a stream of Three Year Bachelor Degree Course in Law is limited to thirty years with the right of the University to give concession of 5 further years for the applicants of S.C. or S.T. or O.B.C.
The College maintains the reservation of seats as per Govt. Order. However, the College Management reserves the right of discretion on this behalf if the required number of candidates is not available against the reserve seats.
Qualified and experienced teachers, Senior Advocates of the Bar and Senior Members of the Bench and various other Legal Luminaries offer their services for academic purposes. Interactive mode of teaching has been adopted here and a skill of reading, research analysis and writing are developed through project assignments. The process of conducting seminar on emerging trends, remedial classes, group discussion and tutorials are other modes of offering scientific methodology of teaching. The Vidyasagar University has introduced Semester system in 3 Year LL. B. courses and a Semester system in 5 Year B. A. LL. B. (Hons.) in parity with some of the pioneer Law Schools and Universities in India. The Semester system can only enable the students to be identified with the emerging and modern topics in Law and to gather current information about law. In 5 Year B. A. LL. B. (Hons.) courses, this College has launched 60 papers of different subjects in law and 36 papers in 3 Year LL. B. courses in accordance with the guideline of UGC and Bar Council of India and as per the syllabi of the Vidyasagar University, West Bengal.
The College Authority is trying its best to provide such type of environment within which a student can develop his personality to the fullest extent.
The College provides Railway Concession Forms to bonafide students.
Free uninterrupted internet and computer facilities are provided to the learners in the Library.
Xerox facilities are available to the students on payment basis.
Canteen facilities are provided inside the College premises.
One standard playground is provided for games and sports facilities inside the College premises on sharing basis.
The College has a well equipped library with a good number of books and in additions; the library provides attractive and valuable authoritative law journals and also magazines of general nature. Separate rules and regulations are available from Library office. The Library Cards will be provided by the College Office within fifteen days from the commencement of the classes.
Students’ Identity Cards are issued by the College Office free of cost and the students are required to collect the Identity Card within 15 days from the commencement of class for each session. The students must bring Identity Card with him/her while coming to College. A student will have to show Identity Card to the College staff on demand for verification as and when required.
Identity Card must be kept carefully in the custody of the student and is not transferable. In case the Identity Card is lost / stolen the matter be immediately reported to the nearest Police Station. Duplicate Identity Card may be issued in such cases on obtaining application for the same with a copy of the GD and on payment of Rs.50/- ( Rupees Fifty ) only.
i) Instruction in various subjects shall be provided by the College as per the scheme of instruction and syllabi prescribed.
ii) The programme of instruction, examinations and vacations shall be notified by the Principal of the College.
iii) The medium of instruction and examination shall be English.
iv) At the end of each Semester, University Examinations shall be held as prescribed, by the University.
v) Backlog examinations shall be conducted at the end of each Semester by the University.
vi) A candidate shall be deemed to have passed the Semester Examination if he / she secures not less than 40% in each subject and in aggregate.
vii) The Examinations are conducted and results are published by the affiliating University.
The students admitted in any LL. B. course are required to apply within a month of admission for Registration of the University on payment of requisite fees. Registration Certificate of the Vidyasagar University is to be obtained before submission of fee and form for University Examination.
Students who come from other Universities (except Vidyasagar University) will be provisionally admitted. After admission they shall apply through the Principal within one month from the date of admission to the Vidyasagar University with the Migration Certificate for Registration with following documents :
(a) Age proof Certificate, (b) Pass Certificate (or mark sheet) and (c) Migration Certificate (in original).
The College will not be held responsible if the concerned University does not sanction migration to such candidate and / or Vidyasagar University refuses to issue Registration Certificate to any candidate. In such cases provisional admission given at this College may be cancelled and no refund of fees will be made.
The students appeared in the H.S. / Degree Examination in the current year may also apply for Provisional Admission with Special Permission of the Director / Principal of the College. They may be given Provisional Admission on fulfillment of required formalities. Provisional Admission will be treated as cancelled if the candidate failed to obtain qualifying marks at the last public examination. Refund of fees may be made on cancellation of Provisional Admission after a deduction of Admission.
